Mission Santa Clara tickets & upcoming events

If you’re ever cruising along the coast and taking that scenic drive through Santa Clara, a stop at Mission Santa Clara is a must. This historic spot isn’t just some old ruins, it’s a living piece of California history, dating back to 1777 when it was founded by Spanish padres. You’ll find the church itself with its simple yet beautiful architecture, plus lush gardens and peaceful courtyards that make you wanna sit for a while and soak it all in. Did you know in 2012 they put up a memorial marker honoring Native American leaders involved in the early mission era? That’s pretty cool because it shows how the site is evolving to tell a fuller story. Back in the late 1980s, they got a grant from the California Cultural and Historical Endowment, which helped with preservation projects, so the place stays pretty much as it was, but with care. In 1972, it was officially designated as a California State Historic Park, making it super easy for visitors to explore and learn. You can drive, but honestly, using the local bike share to get there is a fun, eco-friendly way to enjoy the visit. Whether you're into history, architecture, or just a peaceful stroll, Mission Santa Clara has something for everyone, trust me, it’s worth a stop.
